About BakeHQ
An evidence-led reference for understanding baking, rather than a place to find recipes.
What BakeHQ is for
Most baking content answers the question “how do I make this?” That question is well served already. BakeHQ answers a different one: what is this thing, what is each ingredient and technique actually doing, why did it fail, and how would I know?
The difference is not a matter of tone. It changes the shape of the content. Ingredients are described by function rather than by taste. Techniques are described by what to observe rather than how long to wait. Faults are modelled as a causal chain — symptom, possible causes, the observations that tell them apart, the mechanism, what to change — rather than as a list of things that might have gone wrong.
What BakeHQ is not
It is not a recipe site, and this is a structural commitment rather than a positioning statement. There are no quantities, no numbered methods and no rankings. The content model does not have a place to put them.
It may eventually help you work out what you could make from what you have. When it does, it will identify bake families and explain what they are, what is missing and why it matters — not generate a recipe.
How it decides what to cover
Expansion is intended to be driven by real search demand rather than by an arbitrary catalogue somebody thought of. BakeHQ maintains a register of search intents, each classified by what the searcher actually wants and mapped to the entity that serves it or marked as a gap.
That research has not been carried out yet. Every record in the register is currently marked as un-researched, because inventing plausible search volumes would have made the register look finished while quietly corrupting every prioritisation decision made from it. The catalogue you see is therefore small and deliberately varied — chosen to prove the architecture rather than to look comprehensive.
How confident BakeHQ is
Every claim about the world carries its evidence, visible on the page beside the claim rather than in a footnote. Science concepts state their evidence tier and, separately, what is not settled about them — a field that is mandatory and cannot be filled in with “nothing material”.
Where BakeHQ has not read the passage a claim rests on, it says so. See sources and evidence for what the verification statuses mean, and methodology for how the content model works.
